Youth Intervention Program
The
Normal Police Department Youth Intervention Program began in
August 2008. It was designed to provide services to youth who
are at risk of becoming involved with law enforcement or the
Juvenile Court System. The program was created to promote youth
accountability for delinquent behavior and reduce the likelihood
of juvenile delinquency by obtaining needed service for youth
and holding youth accountable for their behavior.
The program goals are to address delinquent behaviors, refer youth to appropriate service, and provide support to youth and families to eliminate future criminal behavior.
Parents/guardians of the youth are required to be active participants in their child's program. Services are free to all who choose to participate in the program and are available to those who reside in the Town of Normal or attend a Unit 5 school.
