Canine Program
The
Normal Police Department currently has two canines in service. The
canines and handlers not only assist the Patrol Division, but also
the Department’s Drug Unit, Bloomington Police Department, McLean
County Sheriffs Department, Illinois State University Police, Task
Force Six and the Illinois State Police. The unit conducts vehicle
searches, building searches, suspect tracking, area searches, ad
article searches. At the request of area schools the Unit conducts
school searches as well.
