Youth Program
The
Normal Police Summer Youth Program is designed to strengthen
relationships between today’s youth and officers of the Normal
Police Department. It is held once a year in June. Our one week
program is intended to build relationship, expand
self-confidence, bolster self-esteem, learn valuable team
concepts, gain leadership skills, and embrace community pride.
Normal Police Officers act as "camp counselors" during the program. Past activities have included visits to the Challenger Learning Center, ISU Planetarium, Peoria Zoo, rock climbing at Upper Limits, ice skating at the Pepsi Ice Center and Peoria Chiefs and Normal CornBelters baseball games. The week ends with a car wash with proceeds benefiting a local charity and a graduation ceremony followed by a private pool party at Fairview Family Aquatic Center.
Applications are available in the first week of April each year. Enrollment is limited to 50 participants.
